A Direct Cremation or Immediate Disposition is a type of cremation where the body is cremated shortly after the death without a formal or contemporary ceremony, visitation or viewing of the body or embalming.
The body is typically transported to the crematorium shortly after death and the cremated remains (ashes) are returned in a temporary container. The cremated remains can then be transferred into an urn.
A direct cremation is typically will cost less due to having no funeral or ceremony, casket, viewing or embalming.
If you wish to select a direct cremation or direct burial, a celebration of life, memorial service or reception may be an option for the family.
A Direct Burial is a type of burial that significantly reduces the services provided by a funeral home and happens within a few days after the death. There may be a limited private viewing period at the funeral home followed by the burial at a cemetery. Cemetery costs will be an additional expense.
